Stop the Bone Loss That Can Lead To Premature Aging:

Losing one or more of your teeth start a chain of events that can have physical and cosmetic consequences. The most obvious results is a gap in your smile. Less obvious results includes the loss of chewing friction and the inability to eat a complete diet and further tooth loss. While these are certainly serious issues, a potentially bigger problem lies beneath the surface of your mouth - bone loss.

Think about your jaw bone like a machine. The more you use it the less likely you have to keep it oiled. When a machine goes unused and unoiled, expect a breakdown. In order to keep your jaw bone strong you have to give it the chewing action it needs, otherwise, it will begin to disappear in the same manner that the unused muscles beneath a cast supporting a broken bone gets smaller. The good news is that tooth replacement with dental implant offers a solution to help prevent bone loss.

What is Dental Implant?

A Dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or a bridge. Dental implant is an excellent option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to gums disease and/ injury or other reasons. The implants acts like a foundation to support crowns, bridges or dentures.

Tooth Replacement Options

Traditionally treatment option for tooth replacement includes crown, bridge and full or partial dentures. This only addresses the short term cosmetic problem of missing teeth. They do not stop bone loss. Crown and bridge also require two or more healthy teeth degrounded down to serve as abutment for a bridge. This leaves those teeth at a much higher risk for cavities and endodontic failure. If the original abutment teeth fail, more healthy teeth must be sacrificed to serve as the post while bone loss continues to happen beneath the bridge.

With implant the healthy teeth are left alone (untouched).
Dental implant, like natural teeth, also transmit chewing force to the jaw bone - which reduces bone loss.

Who Is a Candidate?

Dental implant can be placed in most adults who are in good to moderate health. They are not typically placed in adolescents. Certain uncontrolled medical conditions may decrease the effectiveness of implant treatment - so be sure to discuss your full medical history with us in your dental implant consultation.

Every patient is different and patient results may vary. Only a trained implant clinician can determine the best treatment plan for you. During your consultation we will explain the benefit and risk to see if tooth replacement with implant is right for you.

The Process

The first and the most important step is to schedule and complete your dental implant consultation. In your consult, we can determine whether the dental implant are a good fit for you. Thereafter, the doctor can plan out your treatment with your goal in mind.

Generally, treatment takes place in three stage:
  • Surgical placement: This is the dental implant fixture into the jaw bone
  • Osseointegration: This is the time when the bone in your jaw grows around the dental implant. This healing process usually takes 2-3 months.
  • Placement of artificial tooth: The doctor creates a new tooth for you, called a dental crown which is attached to the dental implant post. The crown is made to match the shape, size and colour and fit to blend in your other teeth.

Single Tooth Dental Implant: Common reasons to replace a missing teeth -

  • Missing teeth can affect how you speak.
  • Missing molars can affect the way you chew.
  • Surrounding teeth can begin shifting if a missing tooth is not replaced.
  • Bone Loss can occur around the missing tooth.

Benefits of Single Tooth Dental Implant:

The dental implant treatment is a long term solution for you. With the advancement in dental implant technology we need not have to depend on adjacent (side) teeth for support or we need to contour the teeth for bridge work. Today dental research have shown that dental implants last longer than any other alternate treatment methods to replace teeth or tooth.

If you are thinking about dental implant - You are at the right place

Today Dental Implant is the first choice for missing tooth or teeth. Dental Implants can be used to replace almost any missing tooth or teeth provided there is adequate bone at the side. If not, modern procedures can usually be performed to regenerate enough bone to safely place an implant. We are proud to offer you simple to advanced dental implant treatment at our center.

Dental Implant Surgery

Dental Implant Surgery
An Overview:

The dental implant is placed in the jaw bone below the gum tissue. A temporary healing cap may be placed on the implant until the healing phase is complete. An ideal implant healing time is around 3-4 months if patient does not need additional bone grafting. On occasion patient may need additional bone grafting before dental implant placement can be done, which can delay total treatment time.

In the front teeth region, when implant is planned, a cosmetic temporary crown can often be made to fill the missing space in the front teeth. After healing, the final custom abutment is attached to the dental implant. It will hold a custom-made ceramic crown which are made from dental laboratory.

In the final step, the custom crown is cemented onto the abutment. The tooth has been replaced without disturbing the healthy teeth next to it and bone loss has been eliminated.
